Virtual Vehicle – enabling future vehicle technologies
Virtual Vehicle is a leading international R&D centre for the automotive and rail industries. The center focuses on the advanced virtualization of vehicle development. This linking of numerical simulations and hardware testing leads to a comprehensive hardware–software system design.

IC-MPPE – Integrated Computational Materials, Process and Product Engineering
The competence centre is part of the Leoben University of Mining. Research is conducted in the field of materials, process technology and product development.

For the past decade the focus of research in the Kappe laboratories has been directed towards flow chemistry / micro reaction technology, encompassing a wide variety of synthetic transformations and experimental techniques.

ECO-PowerDrive-2 aims to reduce regulated gaseous emissions and fuel consumption for small automotive and two-wheeler-applications as well as hand-held and garden equipment.

ReWaste4.0 – Recycling and Recovery of Waste 4.0
Refuse Derived Fuels (RDF) are secondary energy resources locally available and can substitute fossil feedstock in e. g. industrial co-incineration plants (such as cement industry). In developed countries, the energy recovery of RDF has become an essential part of resource management.

SafeBattery – Safe Lithium-Based Traction Batteries
SafeBattery investigates how EV batteries behave in detail during crash loads and what influence the previous life of the battery has on its safety.

WoodC.A.R. – Wood Computer Aided Research
WoodC.A.R. will establish the knowledge and the requisites for integrating wood in virtual engineering and the industrial design process (e.g. vehicle design) in general.

ZPTplus – K-Project for non-destructive testing and tomography puls
The centre works on further developing the central non-destructive testing methods – industrial computed tomography (CT) and laser ultrasound (LUS) – for the inspection and characterisation of compounds and hybrid-components.
